Book Review – Alex’s Adventures in Numberland

I recently listened to the audio book version of Alex Bellos’ Alex’s Adventures in Numberland. I found it absolutely fascinating and plan on listening to it or reading it again (I’d love to get a hard copy). Alex gives depth and colour to the world of mathematics by exploring its history and use in differing cultures all over the world.

I am incredibly proud of my students this year and the amazing progress they’ve made in their maths studies! Yes, they have my help, but it is all up to them to take in what I teach them, apply themselves, and study. I am honoured to be able to assist my dedicated, hard-working students to achieve success in their studies and progress in their goals for their futures. I wish my students and their families a great holiday and look forward to seeing my returning students next year.

HSC Preparation

The HSC tests are only a few weeks away! If you’re considering getting tutoring to assist you in preparation and study, don’t wait any longer. A tutor can help you tackle the topics you’re most unsure about, learn strategies for approaching problems, and provide you with materials and resources to practice and discover which subjects you need the most revision work on.

Term 3 is ending and I am very proud of the hard work and effort my students have put into their studies this term. Their successes this term will carry them forward into the rest of the school year, and with continued commitment into the rest of their school careers.

Welcome to Term 3

Term 3 is just getting started this week (and next week for some private school students). For those thinking about getting tutoring or those just getting started, it is not too late to book in and have a great second half of the school year. Having a tutor helping you along the way will give you the advantage you need and will take the stress off of you knowing you don’t have to approach the task on your own.

Additional Tutoring Times Now Available

Tutoring hours were normally available Monday through Wednesday weekly. Due to a recent influx of new students seeking maths tutoring, I am making arrangements for tutoring to be available Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons as well. I’m excited to be able to take on and assist so many new Central Coast students!

Term 2 has kicked off in full now that the storms have passed and things are getting back to normal on the Central Coast. The holidays were a great opportunity for a few of our students to get some extra tutoring time in to cover revision topics they needed help with. Feeling comfortable with foundational topics can really give students the extra confidence they need in approaching new topics covered in their classes.

NAPLAN – Coming Up Soon!

The NAPLAN tests are coming up quickly for years 3, 5, 7, and 9. This year the NAPLAN numeracy tests will be administered on Thursday 14 May 2015. The numeracy tests can be difficult and trying for students.
