    NAPLAN Test Skills

As of 2023, NAPLAN testing has been moved earlier in the year to March. In 2025, NAPLAN testing will be held from the 12th to the 24th of March. The NAPLAN test skills classes are designed and structured by a primary school teacher and relevant senior tutoring staff and presented by our experienced tutors. The classes aim to prepare students to do their best on the NAPLAN and reduce exam stress by preparing them for the format of the four tests and teaching them strategies for approaching the different tests and types of questions.

        Coding for Kids

Kids will gain hands-on experience with the fundamentals of programming in a fun and interactive way. This program is a great way for kids to be introduced to the increasingly important STEM skill of programming and have fun over the school holidays! Students will be exposed to programming and coding fundamental concepts, as well as logic, mathematics, and even a bit of graphic design using Scratch, a program developed by MIT. Everything we do is visual, interactive, and hands-on, the best way to learn!

        Learn more

Students will first learn the basics, such as movement and animation, loops, if-then statements, and variables. After learning the basics, students will then be guided through a few projects to create apps and games. By the end of the class, students will get to make their very own apps and games that they can share with their friends and family. The program we use is free and students can continue using it at home, putting their creativity and new skills into practice.

The class is recommended for students aged 8 to 16 years old with little to no programming experience, but this may be flexible depending on the child. The cost is $260 for the class (a total of 12 hours), and prepayment is required in order to reserve a spot (places are limited). Students must bring their own laptop. Students will be provided with a class booklet and pencil. We will have a 15-minute break, and light snacks will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own snacks.

          NAPLAN Practice Tests

In addition to our NAPLAN Test Skills classes, Apex Tutoring will be hosting practice NAPLAN exam sessions over the January holiday period. These will be conducted at our WYONG office (34 Pacific Hwy, Unit 6) on Saturdays to ensure full exam conditions can be applied to your student. Upon completion of the exam, you will be emailed a detailed breakdown of your student’s performance in the exam.

          Learn more

NAPLAN consists of four strands: numeracy, reading, writing and convention of language. Students are able to participate in as many exams as they would like, to help build confidence and get feedback on their exam technique, strengths and weaknesses. These exams will be scheduled as blocks, where students can book to attend their exam. All of the exam blocks will be held on Saturdays at our Wyong location, to ensure quiet and proper exam conditions for your student.

Following the completion of your exam, it will be marked by our experienced tutoring team. We have coded these exams into the different syllabus strands (Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, Probability and Statistics) and the difficulty of the question. We will break the exam into these components, as well as identify any specific strengths and suggestions on how to improve. If your student is working with us at Apex Tutoring, their tutor will also receive the email and a physical copy of their test to go through in future lessons.

Exams vary in duration depending on Year and Type, ranging from 45 to 65 minutes. Exam blocks are scheduled on Saturdays in the January school holidays. The cost is $75 per student per exam or $250 if booking a block for all four test strands.
